Public safety summit in San Diego

In two-way radio communications, “five by five” is the confirmation of a clear, strong signal. This year’s 5×5: The Public Safety Innovation Summit brought together leaders in public safety, academia, government, and industry to share information and discuss the latest in communications technology.

As a NIST PSCR (Public Safety Communications Research) grantee, Squishy Robotics was invited to demonstrate the company’s technologies and our grant-funded work to improve sensor data communications capabilities for first responders that are using our 4-GasPLUS sensor robots and the associated user interface. COO Deniz Dogruer and Mechanical Design Engineer Kingston Chua attended the summit, which was held in San Diego, CA June 28-30.

“The Summit brings together a variety of people,” said Dogruer. “Kingston and I were able to engage with first responders that are thought leaders within the national community as well as first responders that might be the early adopters within their own departments and had come to our table to learn more about how our HazMat sensor robots could help protect their local communities.”

“The venue also provided an opportunity to meet and have conversations with representatives from other companies,” Dogruer added. “We could bounce around ideas about how our respective technologies might work together and could explore potential collaborative integration efforts.”
